The path of the particle in this display is shown as a red arc plotted on the (x,y) plane. The values of x and y are expressed in meters. Since time does not appear explicitly as a dimension of our reference frame, the particle path is marked with the position of the particle at 1 second intervals by a break in the path. The velocity vectors are in units of meters per second scaled such that 1 meter per second has the same length on the screen as 10 meters. The scalar components of the displacement vector and velocity vector, along with the t are listed in colors matching the velocity vector. Designating a vector by listing its scalar components in parentheses, separated by a comma is a common practice. The x component is listed first followed by y, and z if working in three dimensions.
