Slime worm

The work of a curious fellow

The slime worms are the little gray trumpet bell shaped things nestled among the mussels and sea urchins. They are particularly sensitive to disturbances in the vicinity and when disturbed they suddenly retract, leaving a slimy mess behind. We think the genus is Myxicola. If you know the species please let us know.

Here we came upon a set of four slime worms showing nothing but slime. For animals with the name "slime worm" they are actually quite pretty when fully open.
